Deep Dive: Downstream Careers
Go deeper into the careers that refine, convert, blend, deliver and sell oil and gas products — everything from the refinery gate to the customer. This deep dive follows products through six downstream work stages (Refine, Maintain, Petrochemicals, Blend & Distribute, Market & Retail, and Support) and shows you who does the work at each one. Explore 27 detailed career profiles, from board operator and turnaround planner to aviation fuel technician and fuel pricing analyst, each with a typical day, entry routes, skills to build and an illustrative progression. Learn to read real vacancies, then finish with a personal career shortlist, a dated 30-day action plan and a GELife certificate of completion. Many downstream roles are open through apprenticeship, technical, retail and sales routes. No engineering degree required.
