What you will be able to do

• You already know how to calculate porosity and water saturation. This course teaches what to do when the evidence disagrees. Work through shaly sands, carbonates, core calibration, saturation above the water level, NMR, formation pressure and thin beds. Then interpret two wells where the logs, capillary models and pressure data tell different stories. You’ll learn to challenge your models, report which inputs your answer is sensitive to, and recommend the data that would settle the question. Prerequisite: Behind Oilfield Measurements: Basic Petrophysics, or equivalent experience. About 12 to 18 hours, self-paced, works on your phone, with a certificate of completion signed by the GELife Training Director.
